Growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada, James Smith serves as the 8th Branch President of Riverside ASL Branch. He made the move from Oregon to Southern California just before the Covid-19 pandemic. As a newcomer to the area, President Smith was eager to explore the beginnings of Riverside Branch and immerse himself in the history of Deaf Saints in Southern California. He is excited to share the remarkable faith of Deaf Saints that became the legacy we enjoy today. He is an Educator and has a passion for success in Deaf students. He is married to Lynell and raising four children, three who are Deaf.
A California native, at youth, he grew up in ranch life with many horses by the mountains near Angeles National Forest. He grew up in the Los Angeles Deaf Ward before the split and attended the San Fernando Valley Deaf Ward.
He enjoyed teaching primary children. Before serving as a missionary in Chicago, Illinois, and Rochester, New York, from 1984 to 1986, he taught American Sign Language at Brigham Young University.
Ever since his missionary service, he has continued to have a great passion for ancient scriptures, which also involves ancient Dead Sea Scroll manuscripts and Semitic languages. He worked as a house painter for twenty years, painting several hundred houses in eight states.
For a little over twenty years, he has worked at the School for the Deaf in Fremont and is currently working as an Elementary Cottage Counselor. As a side career, he continued to work as a computer technician with numerous clients.
He is an avid enthusiast of genealogical research around Europe and North America, which involves linguistic translation and geographical knowledge.
He served as a Temple Ordinance Worker for several years in the Oakland Temple before being called as the Branch President of the Fremont ASL Branch for seven years until the COVID-19 pandemic occurred.

Vida Longoria has resided in Riverside, California for many years. She serves as the Relief Society President in the Riverside ASL Branch. She loves to help others by sharing the Gospel. She has her passion to serve the Lord. She is a mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and wife. She enjoys her time doing the gardening, yard work, doing the craft at home by using her creative mind, and likes to help others to do the family search. She loves to travel to Church Historical sites, and travel across America. She is a proud mother of 5 beautiful children and 8 grandchildren.
Rebecca Moore is from San Diego, but she grew up in Glendale, CA. She joined the Church in 1972 and then serve on a full-time mission in 1975 as one of the first Deaf sister missionaries in the church. She went to three colleges, Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, Golden West College (attained AA degree) and BYU in Utah. She was a special education assistant (deaf and hard of hearing program) at Madison High School in San Diego for 17 years and she is now retired. She had served various callings in the church and temple, is a member of Black Mountain (hearing) Ward, Penasquitos Stake. Married Richard C. Moore from Delaware in Los Angeles Temple. She is a mother of four and a grandmother of seven. One of her hobbies is working on genealogy using ancestry.com and Familysearch.org.
Diane and her husband Keith Gamache Jr. have been living in Southern California for the past ten years, after traveling across various states in the USA including Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Maryland, New York, before settling in California. They have embraced the diverse cultures and dynamic communities they encountered along the way.
Diane's passion for sign language led her to pursue a Master's degree in the field. For over a decade, she has been sharing her expertise as an Adjunct Professor, teaching sign language at various community colleges. Her work allows her to impart knowledge and facilitates communication between individuals and the Deaf community, which brings her immense satisfaction.
While juggling the responsibilities of her career and personal life, Diane values moments of personal enjoyment and self-care. She enjoys engaging in activities like reading, leisurely walks, hiking, and spending time at the beach as these provide her with relaxation and rejuvenation. Nature's beauty offers her solace and a chance to unwind amidst the busyness of life.
Throughout the years, Diane has served in various callings within the church. She has been part of Relief Society Presidencies and Young Woman Presidencies, Sunday School Teacher, served as a Primary teacher and Relief Society Teacher, and contributed to newsletters. These experiences have allowed her to connect with and serve others, strengthening her sense of community and personal relationship with God.
Eric Corral is currently serving Branch Clerk, Branch Mission Leader, and Redlands Temple ordinance worker. He has served his Mission in Colorado Denver Mission. He has served as Branch President in Riverside Branch. Served in many capacities in church.
Eric Corral married Annabelle Avellan in the Los Angeles Temple. They have been married for 35 years and had 3 children, and 4 granddaughters.
Eric received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, He graduated at ITT institution and has work for Apple Company. He’s retired now and enjoying his life with family.
