Morning
Susan was born deaf, grew up in Logan, Utah and went to Central Institute for the Deaf with an oralist method in St. Louis. She learned ASL at the age of 21 and loved it as it expanded her world. She got a BA at Occidental College in Los Angeles and a MA in Special Education at CSUN. She grew up without knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was excited to learn it and be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1970. She has been called to the RS and Primary Presidencies several times and to be a teacher in Primary, R.S., Sunday School, and seminary. Her favorite multiple callings are as a Sunday School teacher. She is also a temple ordinance worker. She also loves to give talks and help others work on their family history. She served a full-time mission at Salt Lake Family History Library and also Church service missions at FHL (now aka FSL). She goes to FamilySearch Center to help others every Wednesday and often on other days, too, and is delighted to do temple work for her kin two or three days every week.
She loves to travel, explore national parks, ski, hike, read books, and garden. She is a mother of five, a grandmother of 15, and a great-grandmother of four.

Dana was born and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and enrolled at the California School for the Deaf in Berkeley at age 11 and graduated in June 1986. Later, she attended Gallaudet University and did not complete her studies due to her family obligations. In 2012, she got involved in the Northern California Association of DeafBlind and had served as the president for 12 years. She underwent a 12-week training program at Tactile Communications and became a CoNavigator trainer. Currently, she is a Co-Founder of the Golden State DeafBlind Service Center since 2023.
She is married and has one beautiful daughter. She loves traveling, socializing, gardening, and doing art/crafts.

Brother Richard Moore is a member of Black Mountain Ward, Penasquitos Stake. He is originally from Wilmington, Delaware. Member since 8 years old. Called to serve a mission in California South Mission. Served in Fullerton Deaf Branch covering Orange County, Riverside County and San Bernardino County. Became Zone Leader and led 8 ASL missionaries. Set up two areas of primary program for deaf children. Attended Brigham Young University. While there in Provo, Utah served as First Counselor to the Branch President. Became Assistant to the Director of Deaf Youth Workshop at BYU. Met and married Rebecca Fogarty in Los Angeles Temple now for 49 years, have four children and 13 grandchildren. Moved to San Diego, CA. Served as third counselor to hearing ward Bishop. Transferred membership to San Diego Deaf Branch. Served as First Counselor in the Branch Presidency for many years also taught Sunday school classes in both deaf branch and hearing ward.

Norman Shipley was born deaf in Indianapolis and he went to the Indiana School for the Deaf. After graduation, he attended California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and earned a M.A. degree in Special Education.
At age 19 he was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Stephen Ehrlich (deaf-blind) in the Los Angeles Deaf Ward in December 1973. Norman served a full-time mission in the Bay Area – California Oakland Mission - from 1975 to 1977. He met his wife Heidi (also a convert) at CSUN. They married at Salt Lake Temple in 1981 and raised five children.
After serving five years as a member of the Bishopric and three years in the stake high council, Norman served as a bishop eleven years at San Fernando Valley Ward for the Deaf. He retired after 37 years as an itinerant teacher in the L.A. Unified School District.
In his mid-60’s it was discovered that Norman has Asperger's Syndrome/Neurodiversity or high functioning autism (also known on Autism Spectrum Disorder).
Norman enjoys genealogy and family time with ten grandchildren.
Keynote Speaker
Jack R. Rose was raised in Declo, Idaho, and was baptized as a convert at the age of 11. From 1969 to 1971, he served an American Sign Language (ASL) mission in the California Mission. Following his mission, he attended California State University, Northridge, where he supported himself by working as an ASL interpreter. After graduating, he was hired as a Lead Interpreter at the National Center on Deafness at CSUN.
In 1973, Jack married his best friend and sweetheart, Ronda Babiracki. Together they have six children and twenty-five grandchildren.
In 1976, he began his career as a full-time seminary and institute teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a role he faithfully served in for 35 years until his retirement in 2011.
Jack earned his master’s degree from CSUN in 1980. His graduate thesis focused on the development of ASL interpretation of literature, which contributed to his pioneering efforts in translation work. He played a key role in translating missionary discussions and developing the first ASL Missionary Training Center curriculum. He also helped create the world’s first synchronized ASL and spoken English video for the temple presentation and contributed to the initial development of the ASL Book of Mormon. He worked oh many other ASL transitions for the church.
Since retiring, Jack and Ronda have served several senior missions and spent two years teaching English at Peking University in Beijing, China. They have enjoyed gardening, traveling, and temple service. Jack currently serves as a sealer in the Lindon Utah Temple. He is the author of three books.
Sunday Sacrament
Stephen Peterson lives in Riverside, California, with his wife of 14 years, Marianne (Phoenix) Peterson, and five children ranging from 13 to 1 years old. He hails from St. George, Utah. From 2008 to 2010, he served as a missionary in California, first in San Diego and then in Riverside. He graduated from Utah Valley University and then obtained a master’s degree from Utah State University. He teaches math in high school at California School for the Deaf – Riverside. His family loves to travel to new places and visit family. He enjoys meeting new people, spending time with his wife and children, and learning new things. He is currently serving as seminary teacher and Primary teacher.
Sunday Sacrament
Damian currently serves as the 9th Bishop of the Riverside ASL Ward. Prior to this calling, he served in several roles, including temple ordinance worker, a member of the Elders Quorum Presidency, Elders Quorum President, and ward clerk.
Born in Portland, Oregon, Damian grew up in a military family, which gave him the opportunity to live in Arizona and Washington. He later served a full-time two-year ASL mission in the Fort Lauderdale Florida Mission.
Since 2024, Damian has made his home in Riverside, California, following a journey that took him through Utah, Washington, D.C., Minnesota, and Virginia. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Athletic Coaching from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He currently works as an ASL adjunct instructor, teaching in person at San Bernardino Valley College and remotely for Minnesota State University, Mankato. He is also pursuing a graduate degree in sports psychology at California Baptist University.
Damian has been married to Melissa Lou Hipple for 18 years. They were sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple and are the proud parents of one teenage daughter, Liliaka. They enjoy camping and traveling.
